The Superkits concept
Superkits have been designed to make assembling a steam locomotive kit as easy as possible – as easy as assembling an electrically powered loco or even an etched brass coach kit. The idea being that all the complicated setting up of the valvegear has already been done for you.
Superkits come with the following already assembled – Frames (painted inside and out, but unlined) with stretchers Cylinders, valvegear and crank axle – tested on both air and steam (using the supplied boiler) -fitted to frames Boiler with all fittings – tested on both air and steam note this is not fixed to the frames as various other bits have still to be assembled around it. Gas tank and burner Lubricator Smokebox
For a modest extra charge you can have the driving wheels fixed to the axles and the connecting rods.
Basic kits
For customers requiring more of a challenge or want a lower price a basic kit is available. This contains all of the parts of the Superkit, but with the following differences – Frames – not painted, nor assembled Cylinders – loosely assembled, not tested Valvegear – loose Boiler – tested on air only
Other changes
Boilers and cylinders are now being built for me elsewhere, so I am no longer offering them separately. This external production will cause prices to rise, but enables me to produce more, so reducing waiting lists. Much better detail on finished models – e.g. near correct backhead etc. All models are designed for radio control, but can be had in manual versions.
The SECR D class has been discontinued until further notice.
